Tableau Desktop supports GZIP decompression for HTTP responses sent from Tableau Server and Odata connections. GZIP is used to help optimize performance and reduce bandwidth when working with large data sets. GZIP decompression is enabled when Tableau Desktop is running on one of the following operating systems:
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7
- Windows Server 2008
